APR 26, 2005 (newstodate): Austrian Airlines Cargo has put decisions on new electronic booking channels, notably GF-X, on hold.
Originally intending to reach a final decision on the GF-X issue by the end of 2004, Austrian now says that "no final decision is likely to be taken within the very next future."
-We are still offering CPS as our booking and tracking portal to our customers and evaluating whether an additional connection to GF-X makes sense or not, says Thomas Bernardy, AUA Cargo head of cargo processes & systems.
-Obviously this is not an easy issue as a complete and automated integration with GF-X requires a lot of interfaces to be built. This is more difficult and costly than previously expected, he says.
-On the other hand, a cheaper, "quick and dirty"-type of connection may not really serve its purpose as it may create additional workload for our staff, says Mr Bernardy.
