APR 26, 2005 (newstodate): Utilising its new EU 7th freedom rights, Malev has high hopes for its new route, from July 1 till September 29, from Helsinki to Athens.
The route will be operated three times weekly, competing with Finnair's single weekly departure.
Malev says Finnair has only one-third of the market on the route.
Malev will operate its service with a late departure from Helsinki with its B737-700/800 to Athens, and back to Helsinki the next morning.
Finnair's Athens flight has an intermediate stop at Istanbul on its return flight, but is operated all year round.
Malev is also introducing summer lfihgts between Dublin and Athens along the same lines.
