MAY 23, 2005 (newstodate): Latvian carrier RAF-AVIA has signed a lease contract with SAAB Aircraft Leasing for one SAAB 340 aircraft.
The aircraft will be used by RAF-AVIA for contract work in Europe starting in August.
-The Saab 340 is the best choice in the 3.5 tonnes segment and a perfect complement to RAF-AVIA's An-26B fleet that has a 5.5 tonne payload capability, says Jurijs Hmelevskis, RAF-AVIA president.
Riga-based RAF-AVIA started cargo operation in 1990 and the fleet currently comprises five Antonov An-26B for Cargo operations, and one An-74 for passenger charters.
