JUN 30, 2005 (newstodate): The Danish airline Maersk Air and the Icelandic-owned Sterling are to be merged.
The parties will hold a press conference later today to inform of the decision.
According to a press release, the merged company will include an organisation that will build on "the best" from both airlines.
Almar Orn Hilmarsson, currently Sterling managing director, will become managing director of the new merged company.
