AUG 31, 2005 (newstodate): The re-engined IL-76TD-90VD freighter is now embarking on a flight test program including 50 flights before entering commercial service with the Volga-Dnepr by the end of this year.
The flight test programme will validate the aircraft's compliance with ICAO's current and future noise regulations.
The second IL-76�D-90VD freighter to join Volga-Dneprs fleet is currently in the final assembly shop to complete modifications to reinforce the wings and install pylons for the freighter's new engines.
The second aircraft is planned to enter service during Q2, 2006.
