SEP 16, 2005 (newstodate): SAS Cargo is expected to announce shortly the acquisition of Maersk Air Cargo, now with Sterling after the take-over and merger of Maersk Air, sources say while SAS Cargo has no comments.
Maersk Air Cargo's business concept comprised sale of cargo capacity on the Maersk Air fleet, and GSA activities for airline principals including airBaltic, BMI Cargo, Cathay Pacific Cargo, Estonian Air, Finnair Cargo, Iberia, Qatar Airways Cargo, South African Airways, and UPS Air Cargo.
The acquisition by SAS Cargo and the set up of the cargo GSA activities in a separate subsidiary is likely to make some of Maersk Air Cargo's current principals consider alternative solutions to their current contract, sources say.
