Jan 31, 2006 (newstodate): New airline under construction, TransCaribbean Airways with HQ at Curacao, Dutch Antilles, has contracted SITA to provide a reservation system, an online booking engine, AIRCOM and flight operations applications.
TransCaribbean, headed by Al Menconi, as CEO, is a new Caribbean start-up airline which plans to operate regular scheduled flights using Airbus 320 and 340 aircraft linking the Netherlands Antilles with Europe and the USA, flying to destinations inlcuding London, Orlando and Nashville from Curacao and St. Maarten.
Earlier the airline said its plans comprised flights to Amsterdam, Dusseldorf, Milan, Copenhagen, Madrid and Moscow, as well as a comprehensive US network.
Original plans called for a start by summer 2005, and a new launch date has still not been published.
The airline has also stated that it will operate cargo business alongside its passenger-oriented activities.
