Oct 20, 2006 (newstodate): Russia has problems in fulfilling an order from China for IL-76 and IL-78 aircraft.
China has ordered a total of 38 aircraft to be delivered during the period 2007-2012. But the Russian manufacturer may have difficulties in meeting the deadline.
As production has been virtually at a stop for a long period, the aircraft manufacturer now finds it impossible to gear up production as needed, and the engine costs also seem to have increased beyond original price calculations.
China has refused to accept changed conditions, and the issue will now be broght up at the December-meting of the joint Chinese-Russian intergovernmental committee.
