Nov 28, 2006 (newstodate): The operations since October 28 by West Air Sweden for Post Norway have had a troubled start.
The carrier won the tender for Post Norway's postal flights, beating the former provider, SAS Braathens.
-We have been forced to buy capacity from SAS Braathens to lift our prime product, overnight express mail shipments, says Eva Bratholm, Post Norway press manager.
-During this first period we have been hit by number of problems, not only with West Air Sweden's performance, but also in the areas of ground handling and ramp services. In addition, this year's pre-Christmas mail volumes are considerably larger than budgetted, adding to the teething troubles that could be expected.
-We cannot say when the problems will be overcome and the services by West Air Sweden are on target. But anyhow it is not a disaster, says Ms Bratholm.
The post flights network comprises 11 routes to be served by West Air Sweden. Volumes are around 60 tonnes per day.
