Dec 11, 2006 (newstodate): Icelandair Cargo saw a brisk growth in cargo volumes during November.
Over-all growth was nine percent in November, lifting the aggregated volumes during January-November to a 14.2 percent increase.
In tonnage this amounted to a total of 3,600 tonnes in November, and 37,100 tonnes during the first 11 months of this year.
-Transit freight through Keflavik was the fastest growing segment with 36 percent increase, says Petur J Eiriksson, Icelandair Cargo managing director.
-Imports to Iceland grew by 7.4 percent and exports by disappointing 1.3 percent.
-Over 85 percent of the exports is fresh seafood, and although demand was high in most markets limited supply hampered growth, says Mr Eiriksson.
