Mar 13, 2006 (newstodate): Icelandair has added one more Boeing 757-200 freighter to its fleet.
The company signed an agreement with Erickson Aviation in Portland, Oregon, for the lease of one Precision-converted Boeing 757-200 that has already joined the fleet, bringing the total of the aircraft type to four.
The aircraft that has ETOPS capabilities and a payload of 32 tons on 15 pallet positions will be used for wet lease and charter operations, but will partly support Icelandair Cargo's scheduled services to and from Iceland and across the Atlantic.
Since mid-2005, Icelandair cargo has operated two Precision-converted B757 freighters and one B757 production freighter.
According to its managing director, Petur J Eiriksson, Icelandair Cargo is planning the conversion of its fith freighter for delivery later this year.
