Mar 15, 2006 (newstodate): The modernisation of Georgia's Batumi Airport will spur close cooperation and joint utilisation by Turkey and Georgia.
An agreement to that effect has now been signed between the Turkish Foreign Trade Undersecretary and the Georgian Minister of Economy.
Already contracted to upgrade Tblisi Airport, the Turkish construction group TAV and Urban will invest some 15 million USD in the modernisation of Batumi Airport.
The agreement envisages regular flights between Istanbul and Batumi, and Turkish airlines will be granted rights to operate a number of domestic routes in Georgia.
