Apr 12, 2006 (newstodate): The government of Montenegro is currently investing some EUR30 mio in renovation of the airports of Podgorica and Tivat.
The projects, slated for completion later this year, are supported by EBRD loans.
The construction companies Alpina Mayreder, Austria, and Sivas, Tyrkey, are the main contractors, while airport equipment has been acquired from Siemens.
At Podgorica the project comprises the implementation of airnav and security equipment, upgrading of the runway, new aircraft parking stands, and a new passenger terminal by the Cypriotic construction firm CCM.
Tivat Airport will be upgraded with new airnav equipment to allow for nighttime and bad-weather aircraft operations.
Also in the pipeline is the implementation of a new Thales-supplied radar system at Zeta.
