May 4, 2006 (newstodate): Having obtained traffic rights from Georgia's aviation authorities, Latvian carrier airBaltic has now opened its new route to Tblisi on May 3.
On the same date, the carrier also started trafficking its new route to Baku, Azerbaijan.
Initially airBaltic will operate flights from Riga to Tbilisi and Baku two times per week with Boeing 737 aircraft.
airBaltic's fleet comprises seven Boeing 737-500 and nine Fokker F50 aircraft operating direct flights from Riga, Latvia, and Vilnius, Lithuania.
