May 5, 2006 (newstodate): SAS considers the Russian RRJ a "viable option" and one of several alternatives in a future decision on regional aircraft acquisitions.
-Seen from perspectives of economy, environmental issues and range, the RRJ emerges as a viable option that cannot be disregarded, says Kurt Kuhne, SAS VP fleet planning.
-We keep a close eye on any option in the market, of course, and note that a long list of well-known western providers are involved in the RRJ warranting its future potentials. And of course the issue of capital costs will weigh heavily as well in a future decision.
-We are in no hurry, though, and we will wait and see how the RRJ performs against the specs now on the table, compared to other alternatives in the market by then. But the RRJ does look promising, says Mr Kuhne.
