Jan 26, 2007 (newstodate): Russia and Ukraine have formed a JV to secure the resumption of production of the An-124-100 Ruslan heavy lift freighter.
Russia's Volga-Dnepr Group and Ukraine's Motor Sich have set up the JV Flying Cargo Vehicles, in which Volga-Dnepr will hold 59, and the Ukrainian company 41 percent of the stake, respectively.
The new version of the An-124 will have advanced avionics, upgraded power units, increased payload capacity of up to 150 tonnes, an extended flight range, and a smaller crew, all warranting enhanced operational profitability.
