Jan 5, 2007 (newstodate): The Faroe Islands' Vagar Airport ended the year 2006 with a strong growth by 28.5 percent in cargo volumes, totalling 472.8 tonnes.
Except for January, down 112.4 percent y-o-y, all months displayed a healthy growth, especially since the summer after the introduction of the new carrier, FaroeJet, that however went out of business again before Christmas, which brought the monthly increase back to a less boyant figure, 23.1 percent and 43.7 tonnes.
Air mail volumes declined all through the year apart from the last quarter, ending up with a total of 448.7 tonnes, down 8.1 percent.
