Oct 12, 2007 (newstodate): The Austrian company Luftfahrtechnik-Projektentwicklungs GmbH has signed an MoU with the Ukrainean state-owned company Aviation of Ukraine on investment in the project to upgrade the AN-124 aircraft.
Total investments required to launch the production of an upgraded AN-124 are around 700 mio euro, of which the Austrian partner will provide about 400 mio by the end of 2009.
Luftfahrtechnik-Projektentwicklungs GmbH will also undertake responsibility for the European certification of the modernized An-124-100M-150 as well as its equipment with Western-brands electronics.
The planned new An-124-100M-150 will have the capacity to lift up to 150 tonnes of cargo over a range of 5,400 km without weight penalty.
