Sep 21, 2007 (newstodate): Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport increased its cargo volumes by 11.2 percent during January-July, 2007.
The airport handled a total of 63,273 tonnes of cargo during the period.
The airport's mail volumes also increased by four percent during period, to 6,188 tonnes.
Sheremetyevo Airport has been seeing its share of the Moscow airfreight market down very significantly, from 63 percent in 2000 to 38 percent in 2006, after major foreign airlines left the airport and transferred their operations to Domodedovo and, to a lesser degreee, to Vnukovo airports because of capacity constraints and alleged poor service quality.
In 2006, Moscow Sheremetyevo handled a total of 110,887 tonnes of air cargo and mail, down 7.2 percent y-o-y.
