Nov 7, 2008 (newstodate): From the end of this month, Israeli carrier Israir Airlines plans to launch scheduled flights to Moscow, Russia.
The recent cancellation of visa requirements between the two countries is expected to boost demand for air transportation between Russia and Israel, and Israir is keen to seize the new opportunities.
Israir will offer four weekly flights to Moscow Domodedovo Airport, using Airbus A320 Family aircraft on the route.
In February, 2008, El Al waived its exclusivity on foreign routes in exchange for increased state support to its considerable security costs, paving the road for Israir's entry into new routes.
