Nov 12, 2008 (newstodate): Despite the general downturn in the aviation industry, Latvia's Riga Airport continued to show positive growth in cargo volumes in October for the second month running.
In October, 2008, volumes were up 9.5 percent y-o-y to 716 tonnes, after growing 9.1 percent to 635 tonnes in September, 2008.
So far into 2008, volumes are down, however, falling 7.1 percent y-o-y to a total of 6,208 tonnes.
-We are indeed impressed by the performance of Riga Airport considering the general trend in market conditions, and for our part airBaltic Cargo saw its volume up by 37 percent, compared to last year, says Toms Anderssons, airBaltic Cargo Head of Cargo.
