Feb 7, 2008 (newstodate): Finnair saw a good beginning to 2008 with high growth in cargo volumes.
The carrier's volumes increased by 15.6 percent, y-o-y, to a total of 8,089 tonnes, of which 5,054 tonnes were carried on the carrier's core segment in the Asian traffic.
The Asian loads thus increased by no less than 34.2 percent, y-o-y.
The European volumes also increased, up 9.2 percent, while the North Atlantic, domestic, chartered and leisure traffic were down.
Driven by the heavy Asian success, Finnair Cargo's over-all load factor increased by 2.3 percentage points to 54.5 percent, running as high as 61.9 percent in the Asian traffic, and 71.1 in the North Atlantic traffic.
