Feb 7, 2008 (newstodate): Tajikistan's first private airline, Somon Air is planning for launch of flights to its second destination, following the first route from Dushanbee to Moscow from this week.
Already by next week, Somon Air hopes to start operations from Dushanbee to Dubai, and this will be followed by launch of flights to Almaty in Kazakhstan, Urumchi in China, and Istanbul, Turkey.
Further down the line are plans for routes to Delhi and Beijing, and a European destination such as Munich or Frankfurt, later to be followed by flights to London.
The limiting factor remains the worldwide shortage of aircraft, but Somon Air hopes to add two or three Boeing 737-800 aircraft over the next few months, and a further two more during the latter part of the year.
