May 29, 2008 (newstodate): Cargo volumes at Sweden's Gothenburg Landvetter Airport are declining in 2008.
In the first four months of 2008 the airport handled a total of 17,221 tonnes of cargo, down 22 percent, y-o-y.
Declining the most were import shipments that dropped 28 percent to 11,981 tonnes, but export also declined, down 15 percent to 10,175 tonnes.
In April, 2008, the airport handled a total of 4,814 tonnes, down 19 percent, y-o-h, with imports declining 27 percent and exports down nine percent.
The decline is primarily attributed to the pull-out of freigher services by Cargolux and MAS since summer 2007.
