Aug 11, 2008 (newstodate): airBaltic cargo has noted a significant increase in cargo volumes so far into 2008.
During January-July, the carrier handled a total of 3,228 tonnes, up 29 percent on the 2,510 tonnes carrier in the same periode of last year.
-July itself was the best month ever with over 500 tonnes. Quite a remarkable achievement as mid-summer months are usually the worst months for cargo, says Toms Andersons, airBaltic Head of Cargo.
- According to Latvia's national statistics, both imports and exports are on decline. But for airBaltic Cargo, new destinations and increased frequency on other routes are no doubt helping to offset the import/export decrease.
