Aug 14, 2008 (newstodate): SAS has now succeeded in its efforts to divest itself of the entire fleet of Dash-8 Q400 aircraft, grounded since Autumn 2007 after three landing gear incidents.
SAS operated a total of 27 aircraft, of which three remain cases for insurance companies.
Of the remaining 24 aircraft, 20 have by now been contracted for sale, while four have been contracted for lease.
So far six aircraft have been delivered by SAS, and the remaining 18 will be delivered to new operators and owners before the end of this year.
In their place, SAS is expected the delivery of its first of 13 new CRJ 900 aircraft by November, 2008, and thereafter one CRJ 900 will be delivered each month.
The CRJ 900 will be used by SAS and Estonian Air.
SAS has also ordered 14 Q400 NextGen, with options for seven additional aircraft.
