Sep 1, 2008 (newstodate): Ukraine's Sevastopol Belbek Airport has reportedly ceased admitting commercial air traffic.
Belonging to Ukraine's ministry of defence, the airport was opened to civil aviation in 2002, with some 50 percent of the flights performed on international routes.
The agreement with the operator of the civil aviation activities expired by the end of August, 2008, and so far the ministry of defence has not responded to appeals for a renewal of the permit for commercial flights.
No official statement on the reason to cancel commercial flight operations has yet been issued.
