Jan 27, 2009 (newstodate): Construction works at Yekatarinburg Koltsovo Airport, in Russia's Sverdlovsk Region, will be suspended due to an expected decrease in passenger volumes and revenues in 2009.
The airport expects passenger volumes to drop by some 10 percent in 2009, as will also revenues and profits.
The third phase of a new internaitonal passenger terminal will be completed by March this year, but a number of other planned projects, including a new airport multi-modal transport center, will be shelved till better times.
In January-November, 2008, Koltsovo Airport handled a total of 2.3 mio passengers, and 16,130 tonnes of cargo and mail.
