Jan 22, 2009 (newstodate): Russia's Irkutsk Airport has started work on assessing the value of its property ahead of a planned setup as an independent company.
The airport did not qualify as a strategic airport, and plans are consequently to transfer ownership of the airport from state to regional authority, opening prospects for a future privatisation attracting foreign and other private investors.
Runways, taxiways and other basic infrastructure will, however, remain state property.
