Oct 27, 2009 (newstodate): Some light has now been shed on the Lithuanian government's plans for the country's future airport infrastructure.
Based on proposals from a working group, set up by the ministry of transportation, the government is in favor of setting the country's three currently state-owned international airports at Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga free as share-holding companies with only partial state ownership.
By this construction, the airports will thus be able to cooperate with investors and partners on commercial terms and attract new traffic by international airlines.
