Oct 19, 2009 (newstodate): All parties behind the project for a freighter service to lift Norwegian salmon from Oslo remain tight-lipped only few days before the planned launch date, October 28, 2009.
Named Sundt Atlanta Skybridge and managed by Arild Jaabaek, the project is a joint-venture between the Norwegian carrier Sundt Air and the Icelandic ACMI provider Air Atlanta Icelandic that will operate the flights with a Boeing 747-200F aircraft already painted in the livery.
The carrier will operate flights on routes from Oslo Gardermoen Airport to New York and to Miami where shipments will be transferred to destinations in Central and South America in cooperation with other partners.
Also in the business concept are trans-Atlantic air cargo exports from other Scandinavian markets, notably Sweden with Jonkoping as one central point for building pallets for trucking Swedish shipments into Oslo, as well as ex-Americas eastbound cargo into the Nordic region.
As reported earlier by newstodate, the Norwegian CAA however says no formal application to launch the routes has yet been received from sundt Atlanta Skybridge, and the procedure will normally require about six weeks to complete.
Until the parties break the silence and announce concrete details, the project thus remains - a project..
