Oct 14, 2009 (newstodate): Cargo GSSA companies may see synergies from cooperating to provide one-stop shopping solutions to airlines.
Sweden's HWF Sweden AB, earlier named Heavy-Weight Sweden, and the UK company Air Liaison teamed up earlier this year to establish a single source GSSA in the UK, Ireland, Scandinavia and Finland markets - and results are showing.
-Working together and sharing networks and contacts has enhanced both parties' competitive strength, and airlines want fewer, and more comprehensive GSSA contracts to cover wider markets within one solution, says Paul Jarlsbo, HWF AB general manager.
As a direct result from this cooperation with Air Liaison, HWF has lately landed cargo sales in Scandinavia for Etihad Crystal Cargo, and a contract for Air Canada Cargo sales in Denmark and Sweden.
-For HWF the aim is not to amass a hundred airline principals in our portfolio. Rather, the aim is to gradually build up the company to provide services to, say, between five and 10 airlines covering all major regions and without any overlaps to infringe on competition.
With HQ in Sweden and a total of 12 staff, HWF is now present also in the Danish market, and while Norway is currently covered by a cooperating partner HWF intends to set up an own company in Norway as well, probably before the end of this year.
-We are cooperating with a partner in the Finnish market also, but if an airline would request coverage of Finland we will definitely set up there as well, says Mr Jarlsbo.
