Nov 23, 2009 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic has scored a significant success by winning a tender from the German government.
airBaltic operates nonstop flights to and from six cities in Germany, including Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hanover and Munich.
The contract with the German government will cover the period until September 15, 2010.
From September 1, 2009, a similar agreement running till December 31, 2012, with the Finnish government took effect, covering airBaltic flights on the Helsinki-Tallinn, Helsinki-Moscow, Helsinki-St Petersburg, Helsinki-Riga, Helsinki-Stavanger, Helsinki-Vilnius, Tampere-Zurich, and Turku-Paris routes.
And effective from January 1, 2009, airBaltic became one of eight airlines to serve the Danish government with travels on selected routes till December 31, 2010.
