Nov 16, 2009 (newstodate): The modernisation process at Turkmenistan's Ashgabat International Airport is continuing, and a new tender has been opened.
Turkmenistan Aviation Enterprise of the Turkmenhowayollary State National Service has now opened a tender for procurement, installation and starting-up and adjustment with warranty service of meteorological equipment at the Ashgabat International Airport.
The airport, opened in 1994, has three runways at 1,800 and 2,989 as well as a new at 3,800m.
In June, 2009, Siemens Industry Solutions Division won another tender to upgrade the airport with new turnkey electrical engineering equipment.
The modernisation projects are managed by the Turkish construction company Polimeks, and comprises construction of a passenger terminal as well as a new cargo complex.
