Nov 06, 2009 (newstodate): Funds have been reserved for a project at Ukraine's Uzhhorod International Airport.
After a lightning strike, the airport's runway lighting systems have been damaged, forcing the airport to suspend all operations after dark or in adverse weather conditions.
Alongside the repair works, the project also comprises an assessment of the entire airfield lighting systems and the introduction of a maintenance program.
Located at the border with Slovakia and near the border with Hungary, Uzhhorod International Airport has one 2,038m runway.
Effective from June 15, 2009, Malev operates two weekly rotations between Budapest and Uzhhorod International Airport.
