Dec 07, 2009 (newstodate): Sundt Atlanta Skybridge performed its first flight from Oslo, Norway, to New York and Miami on December 5, 2009, on time and on schedule.
The carrier is now in the air with two weekly flights on the route that also includes a stop at Amsterdam for delivery of South American flowers to Europe on the return flight from the States.
Main driver behind the joint-venture between Sundt Air and Air Atlanta Icelandic is the Norwegian export of fresh salmon to the US market, and the fledgling carrier has managed to land a contract with Norway's largest salmon export company, Marine Harvest that is now the single largest customer.
Crucial to the venture, however, will be its ability to attract other cargo shipments to balance the one-way fish export loads.
Scandinavian AirBridge has been appointed GSA for the new carrier in Sweden, Finland and the Baltic markets, in the US market sales will be undertaken by Heavy-Weight, while the airline will manage and handle sales in Norway on its own.
