Apr 17, 2009 (newstodate): Boeing passed another milestone with its successful Boeing 737 program by delivering its 6,000th aircraft on April 16, 2009.
The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, was received by International Lease Finance Corp, ILFC, which will lease the 737 to the Norwegian low-cost carrier Norwegian.
Norwegian has 39 Boeing 737 aircraft in its fleet and has also placed firm orders for an additional 42 aircraft with Boeing.
To date, unfilled orders for the Next-Generation Boeing 737 exceed 2,200
aircraft, and the Boeing 737-program has so far been exempted from the aircraft manufacturer's slow-down of the assembly lines.
