Apr 21, 2009 (newstodate): Uzbekistan Airways has now received the first of two А300-600F freighters from its partner, Korean Air.
The second A300-600 freighter will be delivered in May under last year's agreement between the two parties to build up Uzbekistan's role in providing freighter and logistics services in the region.
Both freighter aircraft, placed with Uzbekistan Airways for a five-year period, will be based at Navoi International Airport that is to built into a regional logistics hub as part of a JV between Uzbekistan and Korea.
Hanjin, Korean Air's parent group, has also set up a JV with an Uzbek road feeder services provider, Central Asia Trans to provide ground transportation in Central Asia to and from Navoi International Airport.
In the plans by Uzbewkistan Airways is the opening of new freighter services to Delhi, Bangkok and Moscow, as well as future connecting flights to European and regional destinations.
