May 27, 2009 (newstodate): In this year's first quarter, Russia saw its total air cargo and mail volumes cut by one third, compared to same period in 2008.
In total Russia's carriers lifted 127,899 tonnes of cargo, down 33.1 percent, y-o-y.
International cargo, 85,072 tonnes, dropped 36.6 percent, and domestic cargo was down 24.9 percent, to 42,824 tonnes.
Of the international loads, the traffic between Russia and non-CIS markets was down 36.7 percent to 82,669 tonnes, while shipments between Russia and CIS markets fell 31.3 percent to 2,403 tonnes.
