Jun 24, 2009 (newstodate): Mongolia is to construct a new international airport in the Khoshigt Valley of Tuv province, Mongolia.
The building and construction plans will be finalized before the end of 2009, and the tender for contractors will be announced in 2010.
Construction of the airport will then start in 2012, with expected commissioning of the new airport by 2015.
The airport will be located 50 km southwest of Ulaanbaatar, and it will serve as an alternate to the capital's Ulaanbaatar Chinggis Khaan Airport.
Two Japanese companies, Azusa Sekkei and Oriental Consultants, have won a tender to provide consultancy services to the airport project.
