Aug 24, 2009 (newstodate): The Icelandic low-cost carrier Icelandair Express plans to add a new British destination to its route map from next summer.
The carrier will introduce a weekly connection between Reykjavik and Birmingham from the start of the summer program 2010, deepening the success from the launch this summer of daily flights between Reykjavik and London Gatwick.
The planned route will be Birmingham's first-ever direct connection to Iceland.
Based at Keflavik International Airport, the airline operates wet-leased Boeing 737 aircraft on its network comprising Alicante, Barcelona, Basel, Berlin, Billund, Copenhagen, London, Eindhoven, Frankfurt Hahn, Friedrichshafen, Gothenburg, Paris and Warsaw, and has named Cargo Express as its GSA selling cargo capacity on the flights from Iceland.
