Aug 19, 2009 (newstodate): The decline rate in Russia's air cargo volumes through 2009 is easing as the year progresses.
According to the latest statistics from Russia's Transport Clearing House, volumes in January-June 2009 were down 24.5 percent, y-o-y, to a total of 302,242 tonnes, mail and freight included.
This clearly indicated a continued improvement in the situation that is still critical to the country's industry.
In May the accumulated volumes were 26.1 percent down on the preceding year, in April the accumulated decline was 28.7, in March 27.5, in February 37.3 percent down on 2008 levels, while January 2009 started out with a decline by 34.7 percent, y-o-y.
