Sep 23, 2009 (newstodate): 43 Ministers of Transport from the European and Asian countries will meet in Vilnius, Lithuania on October 19-20, 2009.
The ministers will open the transport cooperation framework under the Asia-Europe Meeting, ASEM, format, with the aim of creating a single vision on the future of Euro-Asian transport system.
Lithuania proposed to host the meeting, and the initiative was actively supported by the European Commission and China, as well as Germany, Poland, Singapore, Sweden and Vietnam.
The purpose it to identify and propose the removal of all bottle-necks in a free logistics flow between Europe and Asia, and all modes of transportation, including civil aviation, are included in the scenarios to be discussed.
