Sep 08, 2009 (newstodate): In 2009, August proved a turning point for Aeroflot-Cargo that noted a 4.3 percent increase in volumes compared to August 2008.
The carrier handled a total of 14,140 tonnes of cargo, including 7,659 tonnes of cargo carrier on Aeroflot passenger flights, down 0.5 percent, y-o-y, and 6,480 tonnes of cargo carried on the company's freighters, up 10.7 percent.
August is traditionally a slack cargo month, so the over-all increase in volumes are highly encouraging for Aeroflot-Cargo.
August thus proved to be the turning point for Aeroflot Cargo so far into 2009.
Compared to same months in 2008, volumes in January were 38 percent down, in February 40.5 percent down, in March 29 percent down, in April 14 percent down, in May 3.1 percent down, in June 7.3 percent down, and in July 1.6 percent down on last year.
