Sep 10, 2009 (newstodate): Estonian carrier Avies is seeing signs that the market is slowly returning to normal and has plans for new business projects.
-As a privately-owned and independent airline, we are engaged in both passenger and cargo transportation, and besides operating scheduled passenger flights between Tallinn and Kardla, at the Estonian island of Hiiumaa, we are also actively marketing our European charter services, says Eduard Litvinov, Avies management.
-Times are difficult, yes, but this has not restrained us from continue planning for the set-up of a new business at Moscow where we will offer charter flights to destinations in Russia and CIS, as well as to St Petersburg. This will not require us to add new aircraft, and our plans are maturing.
Avies will soon have to compete with Estonian Air on its domestic route to Kardla as the state contract for the operations is expiring and a new procurement process will be opened.
