Sep 07, 2009 (newstodate): From spring 2010, Finnair will reduce its fleet of aircraft dedicated to leisure traffic as a further step towards realizing the goal of a pure Airbus fleet.
The carrier will withdraw three Boeing 757-200 aircraft from service while maintaining its remaining four Boeing 757-200 aircraft in service until replaced by new airbus aircraft.
Some of this winter season's leisure flights will be operated with new Airbus A330 long-haul aircraft that are otherwise used in scheduled
passenger traffic.
-Through the arrangement, we will reduce our leisure flight capacity in the summer season, when demand for leisure flights in Finland is lower than in the winter season. We will also be able to use our long-haul fleet more flexibly on scheduled and leisure flights according to seasonal fluctuations in demand structure, says Lasse Heinonen, Finnair Deputy CEO.
