Jan 07, 2010 (newstodate): Ukraine International Airlines emerged from 2009 in a fairly good shape, the carrier says.
In contrast to many other airlines, UIA kept its entire fleet flying throughout the the year, increasing its business to include new flights from Lvov to Milan, from Kiev to Abu Dhabi, and from and Odessa to Dubai.
In 2009 UIA expanded its aircraft fleet with delivery of the first two Boeing 737-800, and another two aircraft will be delivered in summer 2010.
In the plans for 2010 is the opening of new direct flights between Kiev and Almaty, Tashkent and Delhi, frequencies will be increased on several routes, and UIA expects to carry more than two mio passengers in 2010, compared to 1.5 mio in 2009.
