Nov 18, 2010 (newstodate): The Kazakh carrier Air Astana is planning for a large intake of new aircraft.
In the plans is the acquisition of six Airbus A320 aircraft slated for delivery between November 2012 and June 2013.
In 2011 the first of a batch of three Embraer 190 aircraft will arrive in Astana.
In 2007 Air Astana negotiated with Boeing for three Boeing 787-8 aircraft to be delivered by 2012. The MoU, however, expired with no firm order being placed.
According to the carrier's CEO, speaking at a recent press event, Air Astana will anyhow finalize its order for the Dreamliners, now scheduled to be delivered by 2014.
Air Astana currently operates a fleet comprising 10 Airbus A320 Family aircraft, four Boeing 757-200, two Boeing 767-300ER, and six Fokker 50 aircraft.
