Dec 03, 2010 (newstodate): Estonia's Tallinn Airport remains far behind 2009-levels in cargo volumes this year.
In November 2010, a total of 1,143 tonnes of cargo and mail was handled at Tallinn Airport, down 61 percent on last year.
As in earlier months, the decrease is due to the continued shortfall of imports that are primarily ex-China exports destined for Russia and transferred to trucks at Tallinn.
Thus imports were down 69.1 percent, y-o-y, to 725 tonnes.
Airfreight exports have been rising through most of 2010, and were up 41.3 percent, y-o-y, to 185 tonnes in November 2010.
In the first 11 months of 2010, the airport has handled a total of 11,021 tonnes, down 42.9 percent, y-o-y, with "imports" down 47.3 percent, y-o-y, to 8,589 tonnes.
