Feb 09, 2010 (newstodate): The market for turboprops seems to perform excellently in times of general downturn in the aviation industry, as claimed by Saab Aircraft Leasing in yesterday's newstodate report.
The experience is shared by another aircraft leasing agent, BAE Systems that reports that its Regional Aircraft business held up well in the face of the worst ever downturn in the world's commercial aviation markets.
By the start of 2009, BAe Systems Asset Management had 14 turboprop aircraft on the shelf, including 11 ATP turboprop aircraft (eight freighters and three passenger aircraft) and three Jetstream 32 regional turboprops.
The year ended with the placement of the four final ATP aircraft, resulting in a fully contracted turboprop portfolio.
